How do I remove an element from a screenshot?

You can remove elements from a screenshot, including titles, images, devices and shapes.

The quickest way is to select the element on the screenshot and click the delete icon. If the element is hard to select, you can remove it from Layouts & Elements instead.

Remove an element from the canvas

To quickly remove an element:

  1. Hover over or click the element you want to remove.

  2. In the small toolbar that appears, click the trash/delete icon.

  3. The element is removed from that screenshot.

This is the fastest option when the element is easy to select on the canvas.

Remove an element from Layouts & Elements

Use Layouts & Elements when the element is hard to click, behind another element, partly off the screenshot, or you want to check the layer structure before deleting it.

To remove an element from Layouts & Elements:

  1. Click the screenshot you want to edit.

  2. Open Layouts & Elements in the edit panel.

  3. Find the element you want to remove.

  4. Click the trash/delete icon next to that element.

This is useful for overlapping elements, decorative images, doodles, shapes or anything that is difficult to select directly on the screenshot.

Delete an element with your keyboard

You can also delete a selected element using your keyboard.

On Mac, select the element and press Delete.

What can I remove?

You can remove elements such as:

  • Title or Title & Subtitle elements

  • Device elements

  • Image elements

  • Shape elements

  • decorative assets, badges, icons, doodles or background-style image elements

The Background section is managed separately. To remove or change a background, open the Background tab or use the Background button in the top toolbar.

Good to know

Deleting an element removes it from the selected screenshot. If you delete an Image element, the original uploaded image can still be available in your image library.
