Do I need different raw screenshots for different device sizes?
Yes, AppScreens does not automatically create correct raw app screenshots for different device types from one original screenshot.
AppScreens resizes your project layout for different output sizes, but it does not automatically convert one raw app screenshot into a true representation of your app on another device type.
For example, an iPhone screenshot should not usually be used as the raw screenshot for an iPad output. Phones and tablets often have different layouts, proportions, spacing, and UI behaviour. Stretching or reusing a phone screenshot for a tablet can give an inaccurate result and may cause problems when submitting to app stores.
Best practice
For the most accurate screenshots, you should:
select the output sizes you want in your project
capture raw app screenshots for each relevant device type
upload those raw screenshots to the matching output sizes in AppScreens
let AppScreens resize the overall project layout for each output
What AppScreens does resize
AppScreens resizes the design project, including things like:
layout
text
positioning
styling
overall composition
What about the global screenshot option?
AppScreens does include a global screenshot option when uploading raw screenshots.
This can apply the same raw screenshot across multiple output sizes, but it is generally not recommended when the selected outputs represent different device types, such as phones and tablets and can lead to app review rejection.
If you want your screenshots to be a true representation of the app on each device, you should upload the correct raw screenshots for each output size instead.
AppScreens resizes the project, not the raw app screenshots.
